Milbank Boy Scout Troop Seeks
Scouting for Food Donations

The Local Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) annual Scouting for Food event will kick off on Friday, October 30. However, this year’s drive will feature a different format because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The scouts will go door-to-door Friday afternoon to place the familiar door hangers on Milbank community residents’ doors, but they will not collect food this year. Instead, the BSA will be asking for monetary donations for the local food pantry on an online platform.
To donate to the Grant County Food Pantry, visit www.siouxcouncil.org/content/87067/Scouting-For-Food. Individuals can also donate by taking a picture of the QR code on the door hanger delivered by the scouts. Donations can also be sent directly to the Grant County Food Pantry at 210 E 5th Avenue, Milbank, SD 57252.
One hundred percent of the proceeds collected go to the local food pantry. The food pantry will then use the funding to purchase necessary food and supplies for residents needing help.
“The food pantry is preparing for the holiday season and the long winter months. This food drive is instrumental in helping restock the shelves and get ready for the holidays,” said Scoutmaster Jeff Loutsch. “A scout promises to help other people at all times. There is no better way to show our scouting spirit than by participating in the annual Scouting for Food drive. While faced with the challenge of this health pandemic now is the time to show our community the scouting values of being loyal, helpful, kind and cheerful.”
Scouting for Food is the leading service program for BSA and is part of the national BSA program – Good Turn for America. ‘The Milbank Scouts BSA would like to thank the Milbank community in advance for their support and heartwarming generosity in helping to keep all in our community nourished,” said Loutsch. Milbank Boy Scout Troop 45 is funded in part by Grant County Combined Appeal.
