BIG STONE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE SEEKS CATTLE GRAZING INTEREST

Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge, Odessa, MN, is seeking interested cattle producers for cash rent grazing on two units of the Refuge starting approximately May 15, 2024. The purpose of this short term grazing program is to reduce smooth brome dominance on native habitats, aid in controlling invasive species, and stimulate native prairie vegetation. Individuals will be selected based on receipt of a sealed bid. Under this arrangement producers will be offered to graze for a maximum of three years upon compliance of grazing contract. The process has changed considerably from previous years, so please read all information closely.

Bid packets may be picked up at the refuge office (44843 County Road 19 Odessa, Minnesota 56276) or sent by email. Email requests can be made to brandon_semel@fws.gov. Sealed bids are due at the Refuge office in person or via email no later than 12 p.m. (noon), September 29, 2023. A box will be placed in front of the office for after-hours bid collection.
