Call for Bids Town of Strandburg

CALL FOR BIDS
The Town Board of Strandburg is selling the old firehall. We will be taking sealed bids until August 17. They can be left at Rufer’s General Store or mailed to the Town of Strandburg at PO Box 13, Strandburg, SD 57265. The Town Board will be opening them at a special meeting on August 18. If you would like to see the inside, please contact Tammy Rufer at 605-676-2458 or a board member to set up a time. There will be a minimum bid of $5,000.

LIKE SENTINALS, parking meters once lined Milbank’s Main Street. Installed in the 1950s to ease parking conjestion in the downtown area, the meters genterated revenue for the city and encouraged shoppers to limit the amount of time spent parked in one place. After the city added public parking lots near Main Street the town’s leadership gradually reduced reliance on the meters, and then, in 1980 voted to remove them.
