Chamber Cancels Milbank’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Chamber Cancels Milbank’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Jamie Henderson, executive director of the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce announced last week that the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta planned for this year has been canceled.
“Over the past four years, the chamber has valued the opportunity to celebrate culture, foster connections, and bring the community together [through the event], making this a difficult decision,” Henderson said in a printed release. A combination of factors, including funding, past attendance, and the time and resources required to deliver the high-quality experience led to the chamber board members’ decision to cancel this year’s event.
“We are proud of what Cinco de Mayo Fiesta has brought to our community, and we are deeply grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and attendees for their support. Our commitment to supporting local businesses is strong, and we look forward to continuing to bring people together through community events,” Henderson said.
As a chamber, the main priority is to support local businesses and partner with members to create impactful community experiences. The chamber’s events highlight the partnerships that are made possible through the generous support of local business sponsors and dedicated volunteers. This decision reflects the chamber’s commitment to being responsible stewards of its resources and ensuring the long-term sustainability of chamber programs and events.
The chamber board members and staff remain dedicated to supporting its members and bringing the community together through other events and initiatives throughout the year. The Chamber will continue to create opportunities to celebrate and build community, including Farley Fest.
