Festival of Trees Annual Display
The Grant County courthouse staff invites businesses and non-profit organizations to fill the building’s foyers with decorated Christmas trees each year. This year marks the 29th year of the tradition.
“The purpose of Festival of Trees is for community organizations to showcase the opportunities they provide and/or collect items for local charities,” said Sara Koepke, Grant County 4-H youth program advisor and Festival of Trees coordinator. To participate, sign up for a tree spot by calling the Grant County 4-H office at 432-9221 by Thursday, November 19.
The trees must be placed by Wednesday, November 25, during the regular courthouse hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The trees need to be removed by Thursday, January 7. Participating groups must use artificial trees, without lights, and decorate in a theme of the organizations’ choice. A sign with organization’s name and theme must accompany the tree.
In response to COVID-19 health concerns, participants are asked to wear face masks while setting up their displays and to be mindful of others who are in the shared space.
Also because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be an open house at the courthouse, but the public is invited to mask up and view the trees during regular business hours. Organizers will offer an electronic people’s choice award voting option throughout the holiday season. Monetary awards will be given to the top three vote-getters.
