Step Outside Event
The annual Big Stone Lake Step Outside family ice fishing event will be Sunday, February 27. The public is invited to participate in the free event, which is hosted by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks division.
To join the day’s activities, just round up the family and head out to Schmidt’s Landing on Big Stone Lake for the 2 p.m. start. Participants need to wear weather-appropriate clothing, but will be provided the opportunity to fish in a heated fish shack. Hosts and volunteers will give participants the chance to learn about fishing tackle, cleaning their catch and cooking the fish.
