Fire Departments Offer Safe
Birthday Celebrations for Kids
Members of Milbank Fire and Rescue, as well as the firefighters from Big Stone City, Revillo and Corona, will be helping children who are homebound during the COVID-19 pandemic celebrate their birthdays.
Parents of pre-kindergarten through high school students with birthdays in April and May are invited to call their local fire department and ask that a fire truck visit on their birthday. “This will include the fire truck, complete with lights and air horns, wishing your child a happy birthday,” commented Kevin Schuelke, Milbank fire chief. “We want the whole neighborhood to know it’s your child’s special day.”
The at-home isolation birthday parties will not include the kids having access to the inside of the fire trucks, but the option should serve to brighten the day for the child whose birthday is being celebrated.
