Grant County Library Announces Children’s Book Award Program
The Grant County Library in Milbank will participate in the Prairie Bud, Prairie Bloom and Prairie Pasque Children’s Book Awards sponsored by the South Dakota Library Association. Students read and vote on the nominated books from the book lists.
Prairie Bud winners are determined by South Dakota pre-k, kindergarten and first grade students. The Prairie Bloom winner is determined by South Dakota second and third grade students. Prairie Pasque winners are determined by South Dakota fourth and fifth grade students. Children may start reading and voting now.
The Grant County Public Library has the books available for check out from the various nomination lists. The South Dakota State Library website has a Children’s Book Award page with more information and the site to vote on the nominated books.
New this year, the Grant County Public Library is offering the Prairie Pasque readers/voters a chance to attend a book party April 16. To be eligible the student must use the bookmark to tally the nominated books read and voted on and turn in the tally bookmark to library staff by April 8. Those who have read/voted on four or more books are invited to the book party from 6 to 7 p.m. April 16. The evening will be filled with food, fun and prizes.
