Grant County Library Announces Events for February

The Grant County Public Library in Milbank announced several events for the library in February. The following is a list of some of the special events.
Family Bingo
The Friends of the Library will be hosting a family bingo Monday, February 7, at 2 p.m. With the school's early out, this would be a great family time opportunity at the Grant County Public Library.  No registration and no cost.
Tech Tuesday
Those needing assistance with a device, phone or computer program can find help Tuesday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. The Grant County Public Library has someone on staff who can help with questions.  Call ahead to make an appointment at 605-432-6543. Appointments are appreciated, but drop-ins are welcome
Cindy Wilson Author Talk
The Friends of Grant County Public Library will be hosting an author talk with Cindy Wilson, The Beautiful Snow, Thursday, February 10, at 7 p.m. at the library. This is a Zoom event sponsored by the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation.
The Long Winter is one of the most memorable novels in Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House Series. It beautifully details the dramatic events of the hard winter of 1880-81, a harrowing time with months of never-ending blizzards leading to railroad blockades that all but cut off fledgling communities. The Beautiful Snow is a new look at actual events of that hard winter.
The Friends of the Library had originally booked Wilson for an in-person talk back in April of 2020, but with the Covid crisis all events were cancelled for quite some time.  The community now has the chance for that author talk with Cindy Wilson via Zoom on February 10. The library does have The Beautiful Snow available for checkout as a nonfiction book.
The library is located at 207 E Park Avenue, Milbank.
