Groceries for Vets Set December 16
The next locally-organized Groceries for Veterans distribution will be on Tuesday, December 16, beginning at 8 a.m. at Berens Market. Organizers plan to distribute 80 boxes of grocery items to area veterans and the widows of veterans.
To receive the box with a combination of perishable and nonperishable grocery items, each veteran will need to show a Veterans Administration (VA) identification card, driver’s license with the word “veteran” listed on it or a DD214. Widows will need to show their spouse’s DD214.
The distribution is sponsored by the local American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America and Sons of the American Legion organizations. They are supported by Berens Market, Whetstone Valley Electric Cooperative, Grant County Christian Service Council, Valley Queen, Twin Valley tire, Millstone Restaurant and Cobank.
