Heroes Pull, National Night Out Events Slated Sunday
Community members are encouraged to attend the second annual Heroes Pull event and the community celebration for National Night Out on Sunday, August 17, at Flynn Park, located behind the visitor center, in Milbank.
National Night Out will be celebrated starting at 1 p.m. with food trucks, inflatables and emergency response vehicles will be available for spectators to enjoy. The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) will have a dunk tank and gun raffle tickets available for a Howa .22 ARC.
Ten teams of 10 members have signed up in hopes of being the fastest to pull a firetruck 45 feet. Team check in begins at 3 p.m. with the first pull scheduled for 5 p.m. Proceeds from the event go to benefit Milbank and South Dakota Special Olympics. Teams are Avera Hospital, First Bank and Trust, Milbank Police Department, Watertown Police Department, Milbank Fire Department, Big Stone Power Plant, Milbank Coaches, Breske Crop Insurance, Valley Queen and Milbank Special Olympics.
Flynn Parkway, located between the Milbank Visitor Center and Mundwiler Funeral Home, will be blocked off for the event. Spectators are asked to park in the city parking lots located at the Milbank Visitor Center and the pickleball courts. Parking is also available at Mundwiler Funeral Home, provided there is no service scheduled.
