During Annual Threshing Show
The 39th annual Twin Brooks Threshing Show is set for Saturday and Sunday, August 9 and 10, at the show grounds five miles west and one and one-half miles south of Milbank. The event organizers promise authentic farm equipment and experiences of days-gone-by for visitors.
This year’s featured tractor models will be the Cockshutt tractors. Tractors will be on display both days and there will be parades on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
A tractor pull will take center stage on Saturday at 5 p.m. with registration at 4 p.m. for models built in 1959 and earlier.
There is also a South Dakota Sanctioned kids pedal pull on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Throughout the two-day event, visitors will be able to enjoy music and take in the flea market. They can see men threshing with the antique threshing machines, hand shelling corn and the tractor-driven saw mill working.
As is traditional, the event will include demonstrations of vintage hay making, combining with antique machinery, plowing with tractor and steam engines and horse farming.
There is to be a quilt show by the members of the Magic Needlers quilting group and a petting zoo for children.
The official kitchen will be open all weekend with breakfasts served from 7 to 9 a.m. and other meals throughout the day. Food trucks will also be stationed on the grounds.
The New Life Worship Team from Watertown will lead the Sunday worship service at 8:30 a.m.
There is a fee to attend, but children under 12 are admitted free. Golf cars can be taken on the grounds for an additional fee. Call Pam Nelson at 606-880-2884 for more information or refer to the ad inside this issue.
