Memorial Day Services Planned to Honor Veterans
Military organizations throughout Grant County will participate in Memorial Day programs on Monday, May 31.
Milbank observances will include an 8 a.m. Mass at St. Lawrence Cemetery and an address by Fr. Gary DeRouchey. Posting of the memorial wreaths and a salute to the dead will follow.
The Milbank City Cemetery service will begin at 10 a.m. with the posting of the colors. Rev. Lynn Hardy, chaplain of Birch-Miller Post 9, will be the featured speaker. Milbank school bands will provide musical selections and memorial wreaths will be posted. The celebration will conclude with the salute to the dead firing squad and the playing of TAPS before retiring of the colors. In case of inclement weather, services will be in the Milbank High School armory.
Big Stone City
The Big Stone City American Legion will participate in several observances beginning at 10 a.m. at the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Big Stone City. That will be followed by ceremonies at the Greenwood Cemetery in Big Stone City, Veterans Park in Big Stone City, St. John’s Cemetery in Alban Township, Douthitt Park in Big Stone City and Fairway View in Ortonville, MN. Organizers plan about 15 minutes at each location.
Revillo
The Revillo American Legion Auxiliary Harry Talbot Post 104 will conduct services at the Revillo Cemetery at 9 a.m. Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. There will be no lunch served after the services. In case of inclement weather, services will be cancelled.
LaBolt/Strandburg
A Memorial Day program will be conducted at LaBolt Cemetery on Monday, May 31, at 9:30 a.m. There will also be an outdoor ceremony at Tabor Lutheran Cemetery in Strandburg at 10:30 a.m.
