Milbank Debate Team Heading to Harrisburg
Three of Milbank’s varsity debaters competed against some of the best at the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Sweepstakes on Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7. The event was at Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School, and offered multiple rounds of debate.
The Public Forum team of Cam’ron Graham and Elexia Quintanilla, along with Lincoln-Douglas debater, Bri Hicks, each finished the tournament with 3-3 records and did not advance to the finals.
Hicks placed 12th out of 30 debaters. Graham/Quintanilla placed 14th out of 29 teams.
“Their ballots were close, and debaters are taking the critiques to heart and will be working on a bit more research and blocks for their opponents’ cases,” said Kathy Tyler, head coach, Milbank High School debate team.
The entire debate team will be traveling to Harrisburg on Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14, to compete in one of the top tournaments in the state.
The National Qualifying tournament is Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21. The State Debate tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at the Aberdeen Central High School.
