Avera Milbank is reaching out to the community asking for donations of reusable cloth face masks.
“As we continue our efforts and with the recent CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommendation for universal masking, we are reaching out to our community to our area sewers for homemade masks,” said Natalie Gauer, administrator. “Any donated masks will be issued to our employees to be worn daily and also to patients, when appropriate. This will allow us to preserve our medical grade masks when most needed.”
Any donated masks can be dropped off at the front entrance of the hospital Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. There are many patterns online available for reference as well as the Avera and CDC website.
“We also encourage everyone to wear masks. The CDC now recommends wearing masks in public where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain,” said Gauer. “This will help protect you and others. However, the recommendation for social distancing to mitigate the spread of the virus is still most important.”
