Milbank to Host Fire School
Up to 100 Firefighters Expected
in Milbank for Day-long Training
Milbank will be the host site for an anticipated 100 firefighters to attend the annual Northeast South Dakota Fire School training sessions. The day-long event will be on Saturday, April 23. Participants will attend from numerous fire departments.
The training will begin with the participants gathering at Milbank Elementary School, beginning at 7:30 a.m. They will have classroom training and hands-on simulations throughout the day.
Classes include controlling the chaos, automobile extrication, first-in engine company operations, water/ice incident operations and EMS. Kevin Schuelke, Milbank fire chief, wants the public to be aware of the training exercises so there isn’t concern when they see fire trucks moving around or emergency personnel participating in the hands-on training, which will potentially be in public view.
