National Prescription Take Back Day Slated Saturday

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a national initiative to safely dispose of unused or expired medications, is on Saturday, October 25. It highlights a shared dedication to preventing medication misuse and protecting public health, with strong support from the South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS), the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy and participating law enforcement agencies.

Local residents can dispose of their unused prescriptions at Lewis Family Drug and Bien Pharmacy in Milbank. “We are fortunate to have two pharmacies in Milbank in which you can dispose of these unused and expired medications,” said Jake Folk, Milbank Police Officer. “However, there are certain limitations as to what is accepted. Items not accepted include needles, illicit drugs, liquids, and others. If you have any questions what medication is acceptable for disposal, reach out to Lewis Drug or Bien Pharmacy.”
