NOTICE AND CALL FOR BIDS CITY OF BIG STONE CITY
 
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Big Stone City will receive competitive bids for the following farm ground:
Tracts 2, 4, 5 & 6 of the Lakeview Estates Addition
In SW1/4 Section 8, Township 121 North, Range 46 West of the 5th P.M., Big Stone City, Grant County, South Dakota,
containing 45 acres, more or less, of which described premises Lessee agrees to purchase alpha seed, plant and harvest not less than 42 acres each year during the continuance of this Lease.
All bids must be accompanied by a Certified Check, Cashier’s Check, or Bank Draft in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid. Said security to be made payable to the City of Big Stone City and to be drawn on a State or National Bank domiciled within the State of South Dakota. Said security will be retained by the City of Big Stone City in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a contract when notified of the award. A surety bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid may be submitted in lieu of the five percent security.
The successful bidder must farm the land using acceptable farm practices.
The bid is to be made on a “per acre” basis, cash rent for the total acreage (45 acres). The lease will be for the year 2026, with an option to renew for 2027 and 2028, such renewal to be negotiated between the lessee and the City of Big Stone City.
In the event that all or a portion of the farmland is sold for development purposes during the lease, the lessee agrees to be reimbursed for damages.
Bids will be received up to the hour of 5 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the City Offices, 400 Washington Street, Big Stone City, South Dakota, and must be clearly marked “Farm Rent Bid”. Bids will be opened at the time of the Council Meeting on May 4th, at 5:30 p.m. and considered by the City Council.
The City of Big Stone City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to waive any irregularities.
