Bridge 0-900 Reconstruction
Sealed bids will be received by the Sisseton Milbank Railroad at the office of Civil Design Inc. located at 609 Main Avenue South, Brookings, SD 57006 until 2:00 P.M. (CST) Wednesday, March 9, 2022, and then will be publicly opened and read in the Civil Design Inc. Conference Room.
Such bids are to provide for the following approximate work for “Sisseton Milbank Railroad Bridge 0-900 Reconstruction” including but not limited to the following scope of work:
Bridge 0-900 Reconstruction: Site access construction, temporary causeway installation & removal, clearing, removal of existing timber trestle bridge, Driven H-Pile construction, installation of precast concrete substructure and superstructure elements, installation of miscellaneous steel, unclassified excavation, erosion control, riprap installation, and site restoration.
Track Construction: Remove and stockpile existing 115# jointed rail and OTM, installation of existing 115# Jointed Rail with new OTM and cross ties, ballast, and surfacing.
PRE-BID CONFERENCE: A Pre-bid Conference will be held at the Milbank Community Center, 1001 East 4th Avenue, Milbank, SD 57252 on Thursday, February 24, 2022 @ 1:30 P.M. (CST). An onsite visit will take place following the meeting for any interested Bidders. Bidders are encouraged to attend and participate in the conference. Engineer will transmit to all prospective Bidders of record such Addenda as the Engineer considers necessary in response to questions arising at the conference. Oral statements may not be relied upon and will not be binding or legally effective.

Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or bank money order for five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, such check to be certified or issued by either a State or National Bank, and payable to the Sisseton Milbank Railroad, or in lieu thereof, a bid bond for ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, such bond to be issued by a surety authorized to do business in this State and payable to the Sisseton Milbank Railroad. The check or bond will be retained by the Sisseton Milbank Railroad as liquidated damages if the successful bidder refuses or fails to enter into a contract and performance bond in accordance with the bid when notified. All bidders are required to have a South Dakota Sales Tax Permit and must provide that number in the proposal. Bids will be on a unit price basis, and must include all applicable taxes, as indicated in the Bid Form.
The Sisseton Milbank Railroad reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any and all bids.
Bidders shall state on the left-hand corner of the envelope, “BID ENCLOSED for Sisseton Milbank Railroad – Bridge 0-900 Reconstruction.” Any bids received after the deadline will not be accepted.
