AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WILMOT, SOUTH DAKOTA, AMENDING TITLE 11 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WILMOT RELATING TO STREETS, SIDEWALKS, AND PUBLIC PLACES
BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Wilmot, South Dakota
That TITLE 11 – Streets, Sidewalks, and Public Places, Chapter 11-3 Snow Removal, of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Wilmot, South Dakota, is hereby amended to read as follows in its entirety:
Chapter 11-3 Revised: Snow Removal of Streets and Sidewalks
11-3-1 The designated Snow Route will be Main Street from Park Avenue to Highway 123/5th Avenue, all of Park Avenue, and 4th Street from 3rd Avenue to Highway 123/5th Avenue. Second priority is Ordway Street for school transportation. All streets and avenues follow after.
11-3-2 When a snow event is expected, all residents and business owners must remove all vehicles from the street prior to anticipated snow fall.
11-3-3 Failure to remove vehicles will result in a fine, as determined by City Council, and immediate tow of the vehicle by the City’s tow company of choice at the vehicle owner’s expense.
11-3-4 It shall be the duty of the owner or occupant or person in possession or in charge of any lot, parcel, or plot of ground fronting or abutting upon any sidewalk, to keep such sidewalk free and clear from snow and ice. The owner or occupant or person in charge of such lot shall sprinkle or spread some suitable material upon the same to prevent the walk from becoming slippery and dangerous to travel.
11-3-5 Any person who fails to remove such snow shall be subject to the penalties in this ordinance; and in addition thereto, shall be liable to the municipality for any damage caused by the neglect to keep such sidewalk clear and free of snow and ice as provided in this chapter.
