Our Store Business Relocates to Milbank
Milbank has a new business in town named Our Store, which supports programs offered through Building Our Families. It has opened at its new location at 1504 Morningside Drive.
Every inch of Our Store is stocked with merchandise ranging in price from $1 to $200. The store’s inventory is continuously changing, with a new variety of products both large and small. The store offers new clothing for all ages, footwear, home décor, kitchen items, rugs, garden supplies and even personal products.
“Each time you come in, you never know what you are going to find,” said Terri Mielitz, executive director of Building Our Families Milbank. “We get new stuff every day and pallets full of new items every week. Anyone can enjoy shopping here. We have a little bit of something for everyone.”
Building Our Families is a nonprofit community hub in Milbank that provides local trauma-informed support and education for children and families facing crises, mental health challenges or housing instability.
At the heart of it all is helping one another, made possible through revenue from the store and various grants.
“Our motto is ‘Great Finds, Kind People and Bright Beginnings’. We are currently helping 38 clients who need assistance with utilities, rent, housing, food, and clothing. They are also benefiting from our educational services,” Mielitz said. “We offer supportive services in the community to strengthen families and protect the children who are most vulnerable to abuse and neglect.”
Our Store was created as a way to help Building Our Families become more sustainable, with proceeds from purchases supporting the organization’s programs and services.
“The store really is for everyone to enjoy. We are so excited to be in Milbank,” Mielitz said.
Store hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is closed Sunday and Monday.
