Plans for Former Shopko Location
The former Shopko building, located at 1400 Morningside Drive and 14th Street in Milbank, is being readied for occupancy by two businesses. Milbank Retail Center, LLC, based in Oklahoma purchased the building a few months ago and has signed a long-term lease with Dollar General for approximately 10,000 square feet of the 22,000-square-foot building. The building’s owner has a prospective major tenant lined up for the other half of the retail space.
Roger Bird of Bird Realty and Auction, who listed and sold the building, has been providing local resources and contacts for Milbank Retail Center, LLC, as an ongoing commercial service. According to Bird, once the building is ready for occupancy, which is estimated to be May 18, Dollar General will take possession and the store will be opened approximately seven days later, or about May 25.
