Public Invited to Spring Seed Planting Sessions
The Grant County Public Library in Milbank will host Seed Library seed starter planting sessions in March. “This is the time of the year everyone is anxious to start their spring gardening,” said Jody Carlson, library director. “Starting those plants indoors for transplanting when the weather improves is a great way to start.”
Seed planting sessions will be staged Tuesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m. There will be a variety of heirloom seeds to pick from and the seed starting soil and peat pots will be provided. Door prizes will also be awarded.
The library has a wide selection of gardening and seed saving books available for checkout. The Seed Library also has a variety of gardening tools available for checkout. “The availability of garden seeds and the ability to grow some of your own food helps provide food security in our community,” said Carlson.
No registration is necessary to attend either of these free planting sessions. “Join us on the 15th or the 29th and visit with other gardeners and learn about the Seed Library,” urges Carlson.
