Registration Opens for Gubernatorial Runoff Election

Registration Opens for Gubernatorial Runoff Election
Voter registration for the gubernatorial runoff election to be conducted on July 28, will close on July 13, at 5 p.m. The runoff election is between two Republican candidates who led the field of four in the Primary Election, but each failed to garner the required 35 percent of votes to be declared the winner. They are sitting Governor Larry Rhoden and challenger, Toby Doeden.
The winner of the runoff election will face Democratic candidate Dan Ahlers in the General Election in November.
Failure to register by July 13 will cause forfeiture of voting rights for the runoff election. The public can check their voter registration at the Voter Information Portal at www.sdsos.gov or call their county auditor. The Grant County auditor is at 605-432-6711, and Roberts County is at 605-698-7336.
Registration may be completed during regular business hours at the county auditor’s office, municipal finance office, secretary of state’s office, and locations that provide driver’s licenses, SNAP, TANF, WIC, military recruitment, and assistance to the disabled as provided by the Department of Human Services.
The public may contact the county auditor to request a mail-in registration form or access a mail-in form at www.sdsos.gov.
