Scouts Planning Annual Food Drive for Local Pantry
Local Boy Scouts of America Troop 45 Boys, Troop 38 girls and Cub Scout Pack 38 and their families will begin their annual Scouting for Food drive Saturday, October 19. Scouts and their families will go door to door in Milbank that morning to place a door hanger or grocery sack on residents’ doors to remind them to bag nonperishable food donations, toiletries, paper goods and old eye glasses for collection.
Items will be collected Saturday, October 26, and delivered to the Grant County Food Pantry. Residents are asked to place items outside by 9 a.m. on the 26th. All nonperishable items are greatly appreciated, but residents are asked to pay attention to expiration dates on items when filling bags/boxes to donate.
“This is an important opportunity to help out the community,” said Jeff Loutsch, Scoutmaster. “This food drive is instrumental in helping restock the shelves at the pantry and to help them get ready for the holidays.”
If for some reason a house is missed or a resident forgets to set donations outside they can be delivered to Val VanLith at the food pantry located on the first floor of the Grant County Courthouse or call Loutsch at 432-7946 to arrange a pick-up of the items.
“The Milbank Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts would like to thank the Milbank community in advance for their support and heartwarming generosity in helping to keep all in our community nourished,” said Loutsch.
