Siren Testing Set for Severe Weather Week

Siren Testing Set for Severe Weather Week
During National Severe Weather Awareness Week, from Monday through Friday, April 13 to 17, there will be two siren tests in all Grant County communities.
“We are gonna do this so you can hear the difference in sound between the two sirens,” said Kevin Schuelke, Grant County emergency management director.
Both the siren tests are scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, at 10 and 10:15 a.m.
The first test is the fire siren, which is a wavering tone for 15 seconds or less.
The second test is the storm and tornado siren, which is a steady blast for a longer duration and an extended period of time.
“Keep in mind, these sirens rotate on their poles. We encourage residents to listen to the sirens and understand the differences,” said Schuelke.
Schuelke reminds residents now is also the time to sign up for Code Red alerting if they haven’t already done so.
