St. Lawrence Students Plan Catholic Schools Week Fun
National Catholic Schools Week will be observed Monday through Friday, January 26 to 30. The families of St. Lawrence Catholic School and the staff will mark the event with a variety of activities.
This year’s theme for the week is Kingdom of the Son, a Prayer Safari. The kickoff of the celebration will be Saturday, January 24.
The Saturday activity will be Mass at 5 p.m.
When the students arrive at school on Monday, January 26, the Catholic School’s Week lessons will begin with God Listens. Prayer service at 8:05 a.m. in the gym. The Bible story will be based on the idea, Jesus Teaches About Prayer. The dress up day theme is dress to impress.
God Provides will be the theme for Tuesday, January 27. It will be the annual soup day, with all community members welcome to the meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Bible story that will be focused on is Jesus Feeds 5,000 People. Tuesday’s dress up day theme is pajama day.
God Forgives is the theme central to the Wednesday, January 28. The Bible story taking center stage will be the scene where Jesus tells about an unforgiving servant. Students will each dress in anything black and white for the dress up day theme.
On Thursday, January 29, the focus will be on God Protects. The day’s Bible story will be Jesus Is Tempted. Safari day will be the dress up theme, with safari centered activities.
The enduring idea that God Rules will be central to Friday, January 30, activities beginning with Mass at 8:30 a.m. The fifth grade band concert in the gym will be conducted after Mass. Friday’s featured Bible story will be Jesus Overcomes Death.
Friday is school spirit day with the dress up theme featuring St. Lawrence blues and khakis colors.
Students and staff will enjoy the all school movie in the afternoon at Mill Theaters. After the movie there will be a meal with hot dogs, barbeques and chips. A dance at 6:30 p.m. with disc jockey Father Brian Eckrich.
