September 5, 2023
The Town Board met in regular session on September 5, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the town fire hall. President Travis Benthin present, members Kathleen Quale & Dale Bauer present. Others present were: Norma Arend-finance officer, Brook Pies, Larry Hayworth, David Cardwell, Connie Brotzel, David Lewandowski, Jeff Quale, Frank Redlin, Jason & Melissa Sackreiter from Whetstone Sanitation, Kaitlyn Christofferson, Savannah Moe, Lisa & Cody Sumner, Chris Lewandowski, Karl Stegge, Donn Richter, Viva Jo Dubois, Ciera Schwinger, Tim Gapp, Sandy Lowery, Calvin Pies, Jennica Pottebaum, Arlo Anderson and Jim Thurman.         
Benthin called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Public communications:  David Vanelsacker request his $500 building permit fine from a few years ago be refunded. The board will go into executive session at the end of the meeting. Motion by Benthin, second by Bauer to approve the fire department’s request for a one day liquor license at the park on September 16. Motion carried. 
Motion by Bauer, second by Quale to approve the minutes, financial reports and claims as presented. Motion carried.
Old Business: update on chicken & goat letters sent in July.  One new letter will be sent regarding chickens.  
There is a property line issue with Chris Lewandowski beside the Northside Addition. Original surveyor will be contacted.
Delinquent water bills were discussed. 
New Business: Motion by Quale, second by Bauer to approve a building permit for Cody & Lisa Sumner. Motion carried.
Motion by Quale, second by Benthin to approve a demolition / building permit for Summit School. Motion carried.
Motion by Quale, second by Bauer to cancel Foggy’s operating agreement.  The bar will be advertised. Interested parties can bring proposals to the October 9 meeting. 
Motion by Benthin second by Bauer to have a three-year agreement with Whetstone Sanitation at their current price. Motion carried.
The final reading of the 2024 budget was held. Motion by Quale, second by Bauer to approve the 2024 budget.   Motion carried.
Daycare:  Past due balances were reviewed. Jennica updated the board with an info sheet for the daycare.
City maintenance items were discussed.   
Board went into executive session at 8:41 p.m. and out at 9:02 p.m.
The next regular Town Board meeting will be Monday, October 9, 2023 at 6 p.m.
