Tribal Members Can Apply for Flooding Relief Funds
Tribal members who reside in Grant, Day, Codington, Roberts, or Marshall county may be eligible for flooding disaster relief.
Renters or home owners, in Roberts County, who suffered wind or water damage from the June 12-16, 2025, flooding may be eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster assistance. Loans are available for repairs or replacements to disaster-damaged real estate and personal property, including automobiles.
Inquiries can be made at the Flood Assistance Center located in the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate (SWO) Tribal Administration Building at 12554 BIA Highway 711 in Agency Village. Their hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed weekends and holidays. Recovery specialists from FEMA and U.S. Small Business Administration are available to explain disaster assistance and help individuals with the application process.
Applicants must show their Tribal Real ID along with their bank deposit information. For transportation, contact the SWO Community Transit at 605-698-7511 and use code 4890.
Small businesses and non-profits can apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL), working capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a result of the disaster. The EIDL are intended to assist through the disaster recovery period and are available in Grant, Roberts, Codington, Day, and Marshall county.
