Volunteers Sought for
Foster Wrap Around Program

The Grant County Building Our Families group is seeking volunteers for the Wrap Around program. The program provides support for foster parents and foster children. It is an opportunity for people who want to become involved with foster care but are not in a situation where they can foster children.
The young person and their foster family members work with a Wraparound volunteer to build their Wraparound team, which can include the family’s friends and people from the wider community, as well as providers of services and supports.
With the help of the team, the foster family and young person take the lead in deciding team vision and goals, and in developing creative and individualized services and supports that will help them achieve the goals and vision. Team members work together to put the plan into

action, monitor how well it’s working, and change it as needed.
The Wrap Around volunteer can provide support in various ways. They can give foster parents a break by taking kids for ice cream or for an hour or two at a park; bring the family a meal; help with tutoring; do a craft or just hang out with the kids.
Volunteers can donate money or items needed; be a mentor to the foster parents or drive for appointments. Volunteers are also needed to help sew weighted blankets.
