WATER RESOURCE ENHANCEMENT OR RESTORATION PROJECT 10-DAY PUBLIC NOTICE
The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) has received an application for a Water Resource Enhancement or Restoration Project approval, pursuant to Administrative Rules of South Dakota 74:51:01:60. Ducks Unlimited is proposing the Grant County ILF Project (GCILF) under the DU South Dakota ILF Instrument. The GCILF property is owned by Wetlands American Trust, a subsidiary of Ducks Unlimited, Inc. The objectives of the GCILF are restoration of numerous pothole and slope wetland areas that have been negatively affected by historic drainage activities and soil tillage. Project goals include restoration of hydrology in pothole and slope wetlands, restoration of wetland and upland buffer vegetation, long-term management, and site protection mechanisms to ensure the wetlands and surrounding natural areas endure as resources. The methods for restoring wetlands will focus on improving hydrology and vegetation, with specific objectives of slowing runoff, increasing infiltration, and increasing available water storage capacity. Long‐term management and site protection mechanisms will be incorporated to ensure the wetlands and surrounding natural areas endure as a sustainable resource. Currently, there are approximately 36.29 acres of wetland on the property. After completion of the project, there will be approximately 48.54 acres of wetland. The project will begin in the summer or fall of 2026 and should be completed by October 31, 2026. The project site is located approximately four miles east of Revillo, SD, in Section 28, Township 118 North, Range 47 West (44.99909, -96.475870), Grant County.
