The Waverly/South Shore School Board met in special session on March 24, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present: J. Lindner, A. Thompson (arrived at 6:03), J. Thyen, P. Thyen, and T. Zemlicka. Guests and others present: J. Dalton, J. Meyer, M. Hemmingson-business manager, and interested staff members.

Motion by J. Thyen, second by Zemlicka to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed 4-0.

Motion by Zemlicka, second by Lindner to enter into executive session at 6:02 p.m. for the purpose of negotiations pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(4). Motion passed 4-0.

Motion by Thompson, second by J. Thyen to accept the negotiated agreement for Certified staff:
1.4 percent on individual bases, $48,250 hiring base, grandchild is added to bereavement leave policy, and staff can earn up to two days of activity personal leave. Motion passed 5-0.

Motion by Zemlicka, second by J. Thyen to set salaries and benefits for classified staff:
1.4 percent to individual bases, not to include extra duties with all benefits staying the same. Motion passed 3-0 with Thompson and Lindner abstaining.

Motion by Lindner, second by Thompson to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. Motion passed 5-0.
Next regular board meeting will be held Monday, April 13, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the school library.
