Wilmot, Summit Schools Set Screenings
The Wilmot School District personnel will conduct a three-year-old screening on Thursday, September 18, at the Wilmot school. The developmental screening will examine each child’s motor, speech and language skills and general knowledge. A scheduled screening time has been sent to parents. Those who did not receive a scheduled time or have any questions, should call Renae Bronson at the school at 605-938-4647.
Birth to Six Screening Set for Summit School
The birth to six screening for Summit School will be scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Summit.
Children ages birth to three will not have sceduled screening times, however, any parent or guardian of children in that age group who have concerns can call the school for appointments. If a child of that age group was screened last year, they do not need to be re-screened this year, unless concerns are noted.
Children ages three to six who are not already in kindergarten have scheduled screening times.
The developmental screening will examine the child’s gross motor, fine motor, concepts and communication skills. The purpose of the screening is to determine if any intervention is necessary before the child enrolls in school. If any child needs special education assistance, further evaluation will be recommended.
Parents or guardians who take their children to the screening will be given the results immediately. They are also to have a copy of the child’s birth certificate and child’s immunization record with them at the screening.
Children who are not current on their immunizations cannot be admitted to the school enrollment, in compliance with the state laws.
