Youth Complete 4-H Bike Rodeo and Safety Event On-line

Brytten Schmieg and Riley Krause were each a winner of a bike donated by United Hardware of Milbank and presented by William Karels in the area 4-H bike rodeo and safety event conducted on-line. 

 

 

Youth Complete 4-H Bike Rodeo and Safety Event On-line

 

Over 40 area youth participated in the online 4-H bike rodeo and safety event May 18-22 conducted by William Karels, Grant County and state 4-H ambassador. A daily video guided the youth through bike safety. The week concluded with a Facebook live presentation by Karels. Brytten Schmieg and Riley Krause were each winners of a bike donated by United Hardware of Milbank and presented by Karels. 
A coloring contest was also conducted during the week with over 30 youth participants. Winners included the following: Charlie Laskowske, kindergarten; Hadley Allen, first grade; Sophia Bass, second grade; Brady Allen, third grade; Peyton Sumner, fourth grade, and Thomas Bass, fifth grade. The winners received Old Mill Bucks and a bike reflector. 
Sponsors for the event were United Hardware, Milbank Police Department, Corey Hooth, Milbank Area Hospital Avera and Avera Medical Group, Eliza Loeschke, Street Graphex, South Dakota Emergency Medical Services for Children, Building Rural Communities Safety Grant, Jon Kampen and the Grant County 4-H office. 
Free helmets were donated for all area youth. Area youth may contact the Grant County 4-H office to acquire a helmet. Youth will receive a free ice cream token if law enforcement sees them wearing a helmet while riding their bike.
