Grant County Library Accepting Applicants for Reading Program
“We are calling all superheroes. Are you looking for adventure?” asks Jodi Carlson, director of the Grant County Public Library in Milbank. Children ages birth to six years old are eligible to sign up for the 2021 Read-to-Me program at the Grant County Public Library.
Sign-ups for the program begin Wednesday, December 30, at the library. Children will receive a reading log at this time. Completed reading logs can be returned to the library and redeemed for prizes and incentives throughout the six-week program.
Reading for this program starts Monday, January 11, and ends Thursday, February 18. Participating children are also recognized on a display at the library.
A take-and-make project will be available at the end of the six-week program. Call the Grant County Public Library at 432-6543 to register or for more information.
Parents are encouraged to read to their children starting at birth. The more words a child hears the larger the child’s vocabulary will become. The larger the child’s vocabulary, the more likely they will become a proficient reader which will help them in many ways throughout their life.
