Food Giveaway

Food Giveaway Slated
Next Week at 4-H Grounds

The free food giveaway, sponsored by the Grant County Christian Service Council in coordination with Feeding South Dakota, will be Wednesday, August 18, at the Grant County 4-H grounds parking lot. The giveaway will be from 4 to 5 p.m. and is open to anyone who feels they are in need, as there are no income requirements.
This giveaway will be conducted as a drive-through event. The food will already be boxed as it comes from Feeding South Dakota. Those picking up food will enter the 4-H grounds parking lot and receive further traffic flow directions.
To minimize contact and comply with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, recipients are asked to open their trunks or back liftgates of their vehicles once they are in line. Since volunteers will place the box in each vehicle, recipients are urged to have space ready for the boxes in their vehicles so the traffic flow will not be disrupted by taking additional time to make room for the boxes.
To keep the line moving as quickly as possible, it is preferred that participants pick up for only their own family. Organizers understand that many people are willing to pick up food for others but have set a two-family limit per vehicle. Those receiving the food will need to provide their name and the additional family they are picking up for as they get in line. Feeding South Dakota requires the household information from each family, so recipients will be asked how many people in the family are ages 0 to 17, 18 to 59, and 60 and over.
If unable to attend, residents will need to make arrangements for someone else to pick up their food as organizers are not able to make deliveries after the event.
