Program at St. Lawrence
The teachers and students of St. Lawrence School invite the public to two performances of the annual Christmas program. Shows will be presented Wednesday, December 15, at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Volunteer students will provide prelude before the program begins. Featured on recorder will be the fourth graders playing Il est ne, le Divin Enfant. Fifth grade students will play Hark the Herald Angels Sing on tone chimes, and sixth graders will chime Carol of the Bells.
Students in preschool and kindergarten will sing Mary Had a Baby, Happy Birthday, Jesus, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. First and second graders will sing Joy to the World, Bright Shining Star, and Children Go Where I Send Thee. Several soloists will be featured.
Students in grades three through six will present the Christmas musical Carriers of the Light by Anna Laura Page and Jean Anne Shafferman. The emphasis in the script is how the characters in the Christmas story responded to the revelation about Jesus that was given to them. Playing the roles of angels are Addison Brown, Brooke Hendricks, Macie Van Lith and Raina Untalan. The roles of Mary and Joseph are played by Kara Fonder and Keaton Johnson.
The shepherds will be portrayed by Nathan Kelly and Harper Wendland. Wise men are Will Muellenbach, Tate Pew and Rylan Wendland. King Herod is played by Andrew Karels.
The animals in the stable will be represented by Ivan Henrich, the owl; Brayden Homan, cow, and Ivy Untalan, sheep. The audience will be invited to sing along on Go Tell It On the Mountain.
In addition to the songs from the musical, the fifth and sixth grade girls will sing A Lullaby Alleluia by Linda Spevacek. The finale of the program is the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah, arranged for children’s voices by Paul Jennings.
