Town of Summit Board Proceedings – December 4, 2023

The Town Board met in regular session on December 4, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the town fire hall. President Travis Benthin present, members Kathleen Quale and Dale Bauer present. Others present were: Norma Arend-finance officer, Arlo Anderson, Calvin Pies, Sandy Lowery, Jim Thurman, Jon Boomgaarden, Nikki Mikkelson, David Lewandowski, Cierra Schwinger, David Cardwell, Connie Brotzel and Jennica Pottebaum.     

Benthin called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. Public communications: Travis suggested for next year to move in a tree east of the firehall for the town to decorate. It was also suggested to get new x-mas lights for the electric poles on main street for next year.

Motion by Quale, second by Benthin to approve the minutes, financial reports and claims as presented. Motion carried.

Old Business:  Cal’s fence progress update-materials are delivered and he is currently working on the fence.

Cal’s vehicles on main street issue-Cal is currently working on this issue. 

Barking dogs- two letters for barking dogs and one letter for dog at large will be sent out.

Expenses the town incurred for the old grocery store tear down have been assessed to the property. 

Delinquent water bills were discussed.

New Business:  2024 water, sewer and garbage rates will remain the same as 2023. 

Daycare items were discussed. Jennica put a few cards on the bank’s Angel Tree for the daycare. Another fundraiser will be done in the spring.

City Maintenance- looking for inexpensive cameras for the dumpsters, flushing hydrants will be done in the near future.  

Motion by Benthin, second by Quale to adjourn meeting. Motion carried. The next regular town board meeting will be Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the town fire hall.
