The Waverly/South Shore School Board met in special session on January 17, 2024 at 6:42 p.m. with the following members present: A. Thompson (arrived at 6:43), J. Thyen, P. Thyen, M. Morgan and J. Lindner.  Guests and others present:  T. Brewster, J. Robbins, S. Balo, J. Dalton, J. Meyer and M. Hemmingson-business manager.

Motion by J. Thyen, second by Morgan to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed 4-0.

Motion by Thompson, second by J. Thyen to enter into executive session at 6:44 p.m. for negotiations pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2 (4). Motion passed 5-0.

Motion by Lindner, second by J. Thyen to amend the negotiated agreement for certified staff as follows:

Add 4% to each individual 22-23 certified staff base and add $1,000 to the 22-23 hiring base. Motion passed 5-0.

Motion by Lindner, second by J. Thyen to amend salaries for classified staff and administration as follows:

Classified—add 4% to each individual base, Administration—add 4% to each 22-23 individual base. Motion passed 5-0.

Motion by Morgan, second by Thompson to adjourn at 7:47 p.m. Motion passed 5-0. 

Next regular board meeting will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the school library.
