Several groups and businesses in the area are gearing up for some traditional fun with many opportunities for area residents to join in the fun.

In Milbank, the Boys and Girls Club will host a Halloween party on Friday, October 30, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Milbank Elementary school. The Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce is organizing the annual Treat Street fun on Saturday, October 31. Dozens of businesses and groups will line Main Street to conjure happy spirits and pass out candy to the little tikes dressed in their Halloween costumes. Treat Street will begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude around 7 p.m.

Members of Milbank Fire and Rescue will host the 32nd annual Halloween Safety Stop at the Milbank Fire Hall. Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m., the firefighters will be providing a safe location for the little ghosts and goblins to land, warm up, enjoy a snack, and register for prizes. Valley Queen and Ol’ Mill Meats will provide some of the goodies, but donations of baked goods from the public can be dropped off at the fire hall starting at noon that day.

As trick-or-treaters make the rounds in the Milbank neighborhoods, they will also want to swing by area living centers so the residents can see their costumes and pass out candy. The residents of St. William’s Care Center will host a trick-or-treat event on Saturday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The Wellshire Park Place crew will join in the fun from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Halloween trick-or-treaters and their families are welcome to stop in and have a spooktacular time with the residents of Peaceful Pines Senior Living Saturday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The staff at Avera Milbank is brewing up fun with a family-friendly Halloween event on Saturday, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. They invite the community to bring the whole family to enjoy trick-or-treating and a photo booth where families can take their own photos.

Those who want to hit the road for extra Halloween fun can visit the Kids Haunted House in the South Shore Old School on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. It includes a trunk-or-treat aspect, and organizers promise a spooky good time, but not too scary. A free-will donation will be accepted.

After the kids have returned home, the adults might want to check out the South Shore House of Horrors, created for the enjoyment of the older set. The haunted house will include realistic atmosphere and intense scares. The fulling indoor attraction is safe from the elements, and there is a general admission fee for this scare-fest geared for those 13 years and older.

The over 21 crowd can gather at The Pump 2.0 on Main Street in Milbank for a scary-fun time Saturday night. Starting at 8 p.m., DJ Stony Point Sound will provide the music for a Halloween costume party. Prizes totalling $1,892 will be awarded to three participants for best individual costumes and one best group costume. The costume contest is at 11 p.m.
