The Prairie Coteau Conference Women of ELCA fall retreat will be Wednesday, September 18, at NeSoDak Bible Camp on Enemy Swim Lake. Registration and coffee will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
The South Dakota Department of Health is reporting two confirmed cases of vaping-related illness among residents aged 20-24 years. South Dakota joins 33 states who have reported cases of severe respiratory illness from e-cigarettes.
The 2019 South Dakota State Fair took place in Huron August 29 through September 2. Over 275 exhibits, livestock, static and youth-in-action from Grant County were showcased by 42 local 4-H members.

The birth to six screening for Summit School District will be conducted Tuesday, September 24, at Hope Lutheran Church in Summit. The developmental screening will examine the children’s motor, speech and language skills, and general knowledge.

Rudy Nef was honored by Governor Kristi Noem when she issued an executive proclamation naming Friday, August 23, as Rudy Nef Appreciation Day. The proclamation coincided with Nef’s last day as a member of the Valley Queen board of directors.
