Signup is ongoing for the Market Facilitation Program (MFP), a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program to assist farmers who continue to suffer from damages because of unjustified trade retaliation from foreign nations.
The public is invited to participate in an informational meeting, including a presentation about the new plans for the former Milbank medical clinic building at 803 East Milbank Avenue. The event will be Sunday, October 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Milbank Visitor Center.
Laura Homan of Beardsley, MN, joined the staff at Johnson Family Dentistry as a dental hygienist in May of this year.
Homan received her expanded functions dental assisting degree from Lake Area Tech in Watertown.
United Hardware was recognized as the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce 2019 distinguished business of the year. Bobbie Falk, left, accepted the award on behalf of the local facility. The award was given in appreciation of the firm’s exceptional community involvement.
During the annual meeting of the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce, the membership was introduced to two new members of the board. They are Matt Scott, who is employed with State Auto, and Dwight Sampson from United Hardware.
The Lake Area Technical Institute of Watertown will offer a free Bring Your A Game to Work soft skills class in Milbank on Monday and Tuesday, October 7-8. The class will be conducted at the Milbank Visitor Center community room from 8 a.m. to 12 noon each day.
Rudy Nef was honored by Governor Kristi Noem when she issued an executive proclamation naming Friday, August 23, as Rudy Nef Appreciation Day. The proclamation coincided with Nef’s last day as a member of the Valley Queen board of directors.
