United Hardware was recognized as the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce 2019 distinguished business of the year. Bobbie Falk, left, accepted the award on behalf of the local facility. The award was given in appreciation of the firm’s exceptional community involvement.
During the annual meeting of the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce, the membership was introduced to two new members of the board. They are Matt Scott, who is employed with State Auto, and Dwight Sampson from United Hardware.
Nick Batchelor was the individual winner at the Ipswich cross country invitational Saturday, September 14, and paced the Bulldog boys team to first place in the team standings. The Lady Bulldogs claimed second in the meet.
The Milbank Area Lady Bulldogs volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Sisseton Thursday, September 12, at Sisseton. Set scores were 17-25, 17-25 and 17-25.
The score was tied at six after one quarter of play when the Bulldogs hosted the Dakota Valley Panthers football team Friday, September 13, but the home squad could not contain its opponent in the final quarters and suffered a 27-14 set back. Milbank Area falls to 1-3 overall.
The Milbank Area girls tennis team fell to the Watertown Arrows Tuesday, September 10, in Milbank. The squad also competed in a two-day tournament in Brandon Valley Friday and Saturday, September 13-14, and matched up against Montevideo, MN, Monday, September 16, in Montevideo.
South Dakota State University in Brookings announced the names of graduates for the spring 2019 session. The names of honor graduates marked with WH designate graduation with honor; WHH, with highest honor; CL, cum laude; MCL, magna cum laude, and SCL, summa cum laude.
The 2019 Milbank High School homecoming king and queen will be crowned Monday, September 23, during the homecoming coronation ceremony in the Milbank armory.
