Dakota Hills’ cross country runner Victoria Zirbel won the girls varsity race at the Pheasant Invite Thursday, September 5, in Redfield. She ran the course in a time of 20:00.16.

The Waubay-Summit girls volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Tri-State Monday, September 9, in Rosholt. Set scores were 20-25, 25-21, 14-25 and 14-25.
The Dakota Hills Grizzlies football team earned a win over Florence-Henry Friday, September 6, at Wilmot. The Waverly-South Shore football team fell to Herreid/Selby Area Friday, September 6, in Waverly.

The 2019 induction class of the South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame includes the youngest-ever inductee in the history of the organization – Delaney Johnston of Deadwood, a former Summit resident. She is 16 and a junior at Lead-Deadwood High School.
The birth to six screening for Summit School District will be conducted Tuesday, September 24, at Hope Lutheran Church in Summit. The developmental screening will examine the children’s motor, speech and language skills, and general knowledge.
