The Milbank Area girls tennis squad won two out of four matches this week. They defeated Stanley, MO and Marshall, MN, but dropped matches to Madison and Lac qui Parle Valley, MN.

Dakota Hills’ runner Victoria Zirbel won the girls varsity race at the Breathe Easy cross country meet Friday, August 30, at the Whetstone Creek Golf Course in Milbank. She ran the course in a time of 16:05.59.
The Waverly-South Shore Coyotes (W-SS) suffered a 52-0 shutout in their season opener at the hands of Britton-Hecla Friday, August 30, at Waverly-South Shore.
The Coyotes trailed 24-0 after the first quarter and 46-0 at the half.
The Milbank Area Bulldog boys golf team finished in seventh place as the team hosted the Poet Invitational on Thursday, August 22, at the Whetstone Creek Golf Course.
The Dakota Hills Grizzlies, a football cooperative between the schools of Summit, Wilmot and Waubay, suffered a 44-16 loss at the hands of Hamlin Friday, August 23, in its opening game of the season at Hayti.
The Milbank Area girls tennis team was victorious in their first home match of the season, besting Huron on Tuesday, August 20. The Lady Bulldogs also competed at the two-day Madison tournament on Friday and Saturday, August 23-24.

It was an offensive show with eight touchdowns (TD) scored when Milbank Area hosted Sisseton in football action Friday, August 23, but the Bulldogs were on the short end of the 34-20 score. It was the first game of the season for both teams.
The Milbank Area Lady Bulldogs volleyball team has started practicing and is set to begin its season against Aberdeen Roncalli on Thursday, August 29, at home.
Returning most of the runners who helped the team with a great season last year, the Milbank Area Bulldog boys and girls cross country teams expect to be in the hunt to repeat as Northeast Conference and region champions.
